About Us
Brooks Dance Academy was founded in 1995 under its original name The Shoreham School of Dance by ex-professional dancer and Arts Ed graduate Jacqueline Brooks (ISTD CDE Dip). The school grew to become a successful, dynamic dance academy with its own studio space in Lancing, West Sussex, a stones-throw away from the beautiful Sussex coastline. Brooks is also currently part-based at the new state-of-the-art dance studios at Sir Robert Woodard Academy, Lancing.
We offer a full timetable of classes in all styles for children aged 3 & up in all dance styles, as well as running a high-achieving competitive and elite dance programme for all those who want to enjoy an exciting hobby in dance. Many of our students perform and compete at local dance competitions or festivals, and many students perform in our bi-annual show. Our most recent show in 2022 was held at The Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts at Sussex University campus in Brighton.
The school offers ISTD syllabus classes in core styles such as Ballet & Tap, as well as a bespoke dance programmes in styles such as Jazz, Contemporary, Street, Commercial, Lyrical and Acro. Along with ISTD, other syllabi our teachers work with also includes: Acrobatic Arts, Alixa Flexibility, Progressing Ballet Technique, British Ballet Organisation & Rambert Grades.
At BDA we value creativity, dedication, discipline, joy & self-expression.
