Join our Competition Team

Competition dancers take part in weekly classes as well as weekends with their teammates. Dancers will becomes versatile performers through a mixture of ballet, conditioning & flexibility training, jazz, lyrical, and for older dancers, contemporary. All competition team dancers must take classes in ballet, modern/jazz and acro. Classical ballet groups are invite-only dependent solely on ballet technique demonstrated in class. Dancers who have been a part of our troupe team for over a year may then be offered private tuition towards solos, duets or trio routines.

Brooks Dance Academy Troupe
Open Auditions 🏆

Would you like to be part of our creative and award-winning dance team?

Brooks compete regionally and nationally and have won numerous prizes and awards at dance events.
In 2021 we brought home 1 gold and 5 silver medals from Dance World Cup Telford, and in October we were crowned Can You Dance London Junior Champions. So far in 2022, we have won Destination Dance Kent's 'Studio Cup', the overall award for highest marks across all entries. We also brought home various awards and cups for our groups, duo/trios and solos at Eastbourne and Worthing Dance Festivals.

Being part of troupe is an amazing experience for young people. Dancers often form life-long friendships and are able to have a second support network outside of their school. They develop great employable skills, such as commitment, tardiness, teamwork and organisation. Often dancers continue to dance three times a week right through their GCSEs and A-Levels and come out with incredible results. This is due to the excellent time management skills they develop and the healthy balance of exercise, creativity and socialising that dance allows them to maintain whilst studying.

We are looking for new talent to join our junior troupe team after Easter. Our new 10 & Under team will rehearse on Saturday mornings and start training in technique, flexibility and strength whilst preparing a brand new group dance for Brooks Dance Academy's summer show, taking place on 23 & 24 July in Brighton at Attenborough Arts Centre.

We are looking for young performers with the following attributes:

Have natural or learned flexibility and strength, who show great basic technique, dancers who may be less experienced but show great potential, those who have a huge passion & enthusiasm for dance, a positive attitude to learning and great concentration,
and little ones who just love expressing themselves to music.

Age range: 8, 9 or 10 years old on Sep 1st 2022
We will consider seeing 7 years olds if they are very confident

Auditions: Monday 4th April, 4-5pm

Where: Brooks Dance Academy Studio, Lancing

Please book an audition slot by emailing our Troupe Choreographer:
lucybrooks@outlook.com

The audition will just be a fun, friendly workshop-style class and all successful dancers will be
emailed afterwards to find out if they have a place in the troupe team.
